HEMODIALYSIS MARKET
On December 31st, 2003, 452,957 patients were receiving End Stage Renal Disease therapy—324,826 were on dialysis, and 128,131 had a functioning transplant according to the United States Renal Data System.
Dialysis is a fast growing market. Since 1988, the prevalent dialysis population has nearly tripled, an average annual increase of 13.3%.
Using that annual average growth, the number of dialysis to be performed in 2006 will be 416,975. Because an average of three dialysis are performed on each patient every week, the overall potential usage of AXSAFE™ in the dialysis market in the U.S. is 65.5 million in 2006.
